The steps are super simple…

① Design

For custom orders, you and Lynne will work out the collection style, shape, pattern, color and dimensions.

Custom Carved and Pierced Collection

Lynne uses standard carved and pierced decor, furniture, lighting and tabletop as references for creating a new custom piece. First, you choose a form, followed by selection of a size. She may ask you to find a household or office object that is the approximate size of the piece you are commissioning and place it in the spot you are planning to display the new piece. This process ensures that the size really works.

Next you choose a carved or pierced pattern. An existing pattern is often the basis for a new or different shape. If you want a custom motif, Lynne will send drawings and modify them until your are 100% satisfied.

Custom Carved Tiles

With custom tile backsplash and mural commissions, Lynne creates a to-scale drawing of the design, and when possible, she’ll ask you to hang it in place and to look at it for a few days, or as long as you need. Then, you’ll discuss if there are any changes you would like to make to the design.

It is important that you see the artwork in place to be sure the scale and composition work in the space. This process will reassure design fit. Lynne will ask for artwork approval when the design meets your requirements. Should a review of an electronic version of the design drawing be sufficient, she’ll ask for your written approval prior to production of the piece.

② Making

For each commission, Lynne sends a photo at the end of each work day, so that you can see the progress of the artwork.

③ Options and Costs

Custom Size of Standard Pattern

When you order a custom size of an existing shape and pattern, the process is straight forward. Lynne quotes the cost of the piece in the desired size.

Custom Form or Pattern

When you order a custom form or pattern, the first drawing is included in the price of the piece. After that, an hourly design fee of $95/hour is added. Lynne reserves the right for the piece to become part of the standard line. An option to have the piece be one-of-a-kind is available and will be reflected in the quoted price.

Custom Color

When you order a custom color of an existing or custom pattern in a standard or custom size, the first batch of custom color tests of three shade variations is included in the estimate. Additional test runs are charged at $60 per test batch of three shades or colors.

Design Initiation, Custom Designs and Color Swatches

For custom form or pattern orders, a 50% non-refundable, design initiation fee is required. Once the design is agreed upon, Lynne begins production of the piece. Shipping of drawings of custom designs and test tiles of custom colors are charged in the final balance of the order due upon completion.
